Zuallererst waren Good Shoes eine Band, die nur für den Geburtstag eines Freundes gegründet wurde, eine 2-Mann Band. Erst nach dem Auftritt entschieden Jones und Leach aus diesem Projekt eine richtige Band zu gründen - Cox und Jones Bruder stießen zur Band.
Ab diesem Zeitpunkt spielte die Band soviele Gigs wie möglich in ihrer Heimatstadt London und konnten kurz darauf mit einem Demo beim Brille Label unter Vertrag kommen.
Nach und nach konnten sich Good Shoes auf immer mehr Rundfunksendern etablieren und erreichten somit eine große Fanbase.
