Das Londoner Label Soul Jazz Records hat eine etwas seltsame Geschichte hinter sich. Als reines Re-Issue-Label (also ein Label, das Platten oder Songs wiederveröffentlicht) gestartet, wurde es recht bald vor allem für seine fantastisch editierten Compilations bekannt, die Songs oft zum ersten Mal auf CD präsentierten. Interessant an Soul Jazz ist aber vor allem das breite Genrespektrum. Hier findet man neben dem eingangs erwähnten Reggae und Dub auch Elektro-Klassiker wie ESG, Minimal-Techno von Mathias Aguayo oder Acid-Geplänkel von Subway.
